Hello!
SCAM ALERT: Watch out for "tomforrdocs"
Hey everyone, I wanted to drop a quick warning about a user/entity going by the name tomforrdocs (or similar variations) currently circulating on various platforms.
If you’ve been approached by this account or seen them advertising services, please exercise extreme caution. Based on recent reports, this appears to be a coordinated scam.
How the Scam Typically Works
The "tomforrdocs" handle is often linked to the sale of fraudulent documents (IDs, certifications, or legal paperwork). Here is their usual playbook:
* Unsolicited Outreach: They may DM you on Telegram, Discord, or Reddit after you post in finance, legal, or "paperwork help" subreddits.
* Too Good to Be True: They promise quick turnarounds on official documents that usually require strict government or institutional oversight.
* Crypto-Only Payments: They almost always insist on payment via Bitcoin (BTC), Litecoin (LTC), or Monero (XMR). Once you send the crypto, there is no way to get it back.
* The "Ghost" Maneuver: After payment is confirmed, they either block you immediately or send a low-quality, unusable digital file and then disappear.
How to Protect Yourself
* Verify Sources: Never purchase legal or sensitive documents from an anonymous social media handle. If it isn't an official government or accredited site, it's a scam.
* Avoid Crypto Payments for Services: Legitimate businesses rarely demand non-refundable cryptocurrency as their only payment method for these types of services.
* Check the Spelling: Scammers often use "typosquatting" (e.g., adding an extra 'r' like in tomforrdocs) to mimic known entities or to make their handles harder to track in search engines.
> The Bottom Line: If you send money to "tomforrdocs," you are highly likely to lose your funds and potentially expose your personal information to bad actors.
