This is a collection of platforms and tools that allow you to work with cryptocurrencies without mandatory identification at the initial stage.
The list is based on personal experience and recommendations from people in my circle. Additions and corrections are welcome in the comments.
P2P Platforms
P2P platforms are useful if you want to buy or sell cryptocurrency directly from other users, accept fiat, or profit from exchange-rate differences.
P2P Without Mandatory KYC
Bisq - a decentralized P2P application for exchanging Bitcoin for fiat and other cryptocurrencies. It does not require registration, works through Tor, and uses escrow mechanisms. It is a full-fledged application for Windows, macOS, and Linux, rather than an ordinary website.
Official website:
bisq.network
RoboSats - a P2P platform focused on Bitcoin and the Lightning Network. Connections are made through Tor, and a separate pseudonym is used for each transaction.
Website:
Hodl Hodl - a non-custodial P2P platform for trading Bitcoin. It uses multisignature escrow contracts and does not hold users’ Bitcoin on its own balance sheet. In some cases, the seller or payment method may require identity verification.
Official website:
hodlhodl.com
People in my circle have used these services, but I haven’t used them myself. However, I’ve been told that they’re quite convenient:
Peach Bitcoin - a mobile P2P platform for trading Bitcoin. It works without registration in the usual sense and uses multisignature escrow and dispute arbitration. Availability depends on the country.
Official website:
peachbitcoin.com
Vexl - a Bitcoin P2P marketplace focused on transactions between acquaintances, local contacts, and community members.
Official website:
vexl.it
Things to Keep in Mind When Using P2P
- Bank transfers are not private.
- Cash transactions involve physical risks.
- Never send cryptocurrency before the payment has been confirmed.
- Use only the built-in escrow system.
- Avoid moving to third-party messengers before the transaction is completed.
- An exchange rate that is too favorable often indicates increased risk.
- Before making a large transaction, conduct a small test exchange.
Cryptocurrency Exchanges
Cryptocurrency exchanges are needed to swap one cryptocurrency for another. This is convenient when you need a particular coin or token for a specific purpose.
Some of My Favorites
0trace - a convenient minimalist design and a wide selection of cryptocurrencies for exchange.
Tor:
b1eXch - a simple design; in my experience, exchanges were processed quickly. One advantage is the ability to perform an AML check directly on the website. Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Polygon, Avalanche, Arbitrum, Optimism, and Base are supported.
Tor:
CCE CASH - another good exchange service that I used frequently. However, I experienced problems exchanging USDT for XMR. One drawback is that there is no Tor version of the website.
Tor:
Bitania - a convenient and easy-to-understand interface. One drawback is that I could not find a Tor version of the service.
Website:
bitania.com
Important: Before using any exchange service, first conduct a small test transaction, check that the address is up to date, and carefully select the correct network. KYC or an additional AML check may be required for certain amounts or exchange routes.
Wallets
Wallets can be divided into hot and cold wallets, as well as custodial and non-custodial wallets. For long-term storage, it is better to use a separate hardware wallet and keep a hot wallet only for day-to-day transactions.
Multichain and EVM
MetaMask - one of the most popular wallets for EVM networks. It is easy to use and supports connections to decentralized applications and third-party cryptocurrency purchasing services.
Website:
metamask.io
Trust Wallet - a multichain wallet with broad support for various currencies and a simple wallet-creation process.
Website:
trustwallet.com
Bitcoin
Electrum — a lightweight Bitcoin wallet with many settings, support for coin control, and the ability to connect to your own server.
Website:
electrum.org
Electrum should only be downloaded from the official website. It is also recommended to verify the digital signatures of the installation files.
Monero
Cake Wallet a convenient mobile wallet for Monero and other supported assets. I mainly used it to store Monero, so I cannot fully evaluate all of its additional features.
Website:
cakewallet.com
Hardware Wallets
Trezor - a hardware wallet for long-term cryptocurrency storage. Based on my personal experience, I can highlight the Trezor Safe 7: I liked the build quality, interface, and range of supported assets. It may be more expensive than ordinary hot wallets, so it is better to check the current price on the official website.
Website:
trezor.io
AML Checkers
AML checkers allow you to check an address before receiving or sending funds. They may show connections to sanctioned addresses, fraud, hacks, mixers, darknet markets, and other high-risk categories.
For independent checks:
AMLBot
Website:
amlbot.com
Website:
BitOK
Website:
Scorechain
Website:
www.scorechain.com
It is important to remember that an AML score is not conclusive proof of the illegal origin of funds. Different services use different databases and assessment methods, so for a large transaction it is better to use several independent tools.
Crypto Mixers
Crypto mixers make it possible to obscure transaction trails. However, each mixer operates according to a different principle. Some mix Bitcoin from a common pool of funds they have received, while others provide “clean” coins from exchanges according to their own algorithms. Some mixers also offer different operating modes.
JustMix (wink) - a young service operating on Jambler infrastructure. It has both clearnet and Tor versions of the website. The service does not store or collect logs, and the website allows you to test the quality of the service by making a test transaction of 0.001 BTC. The fee is 4–5% for completely “clean” coins from exchanges.
Tor:
Mixero - widely represented on AltCoinsTalks. It operates according to the CoinJoin model and also uses various tools in its mixing algorithms. However, I find its interface somewhat overcomplicated.
Tor:
Coinomize - this mixer has been operating since 2020. It also has an intuitive interface. It charges 5% for completely “clean” BTC. Otherwise, you can set the fee yourself, without a guarantee that you will receive specifically “clean” BTC. However, if you only need to break transaction links, it may suit your needs.
